How this differs from full HDD
Baltijas Urbējs carries out horizontal directional drilling across Latvia. Approved partners also have a second option: hire a rig with our crew. You remain the contractor on site; we supply the machine, operator and locator. Trajectory, drilling fluid and pipe pull-in stay with you. If you need us to take on the whole HDD job, that remains in the services section.
Partnership agreement first
This service is for construction companies with a signed partnership agreement. The rig is supplied only with our operator and locator. First we review the application — contractor status and insurance — then we sign a framework agreement and accept bookings for specific days.

- We review construction merchant status, liability insurance and the nature of the planned work.
- Once approved, we sign a partnership agreement and brief you on site preparation requirements.
- After the agreement is signed we accept bookings for specific days — typically at least three working days’ notice.
What the call-out day includes
- HDD rig — UNI 24x20 or Vermeer D24x40, subject to availability and diameter
- Two of our people: operator and locator
- Drill rods, standard bits, reamers and tracking equipment
- Fuel for the rig during the working day
- Eight hours on site
What the day rate does not include
- Transport to and from site
- Bentonite, additives and water supply
- Pits, excavator, shoring and dewatering
- Product pipe, joints, pulling head and rollers
- Spent slurry and spoil disposal
- Traffic management, fencing, welfare and overnight security
- Overtime after eight hours
What the partner prepares
We do not start drilling without this list. You remain the contractor towards utility owners and the building authority.
Permits and utilities
- Clearances from all utility owners — Gaso, Sadales tīkls, telecom, heat, water, rail, gas transmission, road and municipality, landowner
- Gaso work permit in the protection zone; a method statement for trenchless crossings or work closer than 1.5 m to a gas main
- Sadales tīkls excavation permit; their representative on site at least three days before start
- Building permit or explanatory memorandum where the job requires one
- Private and on-site utilities — your locate
Site
- Entry and exit pits, shoring and dewatering
- Clear access; at least 10 m in front of the entry pit
- Traffic management, fencing, first aid and induction
- Excavator for assistance; in urban work a vacuum tanker for slurry
Materials and data
- Clean water in sufficient volume, bentonite and additives
- Spent slurry disposal at a licensed facility
- Product pipe, joints and pull-in gear
- Design with all utilities, marks in the field and potholes at crossings
- A site contact for the full working day
Which machines
Call-outs use rigs run by two people. The heavy-class UNI 110x120 stays in the full HDD service.
Mid-class rig for urban work. 10.9 t pull, reamer up to Ø 325 mm, pipe up to Ø 250 mm, at least 10 m in front of the entry pit.
Mid-class all-rounder. 10.9 t pull, reamer up to Ø 410 mm, pipe up to Ø 315 mm, at least 10 m in front of the entry pit.
When rental with operator is not suitable
If the job exceeds what these rigs can do, we offer the full HDD service. If the site is not ready, we start once it is prepared.
- Large diameters and long crossings beyond the rig’s recommended limits
- Heavy class — UNI 110x120
- Rock or unknown ground without investigation
- A site without permits, field marks or pits
- Rental of the machine without our operator
How a call-out works
- Application and agreement. You become a partner. We do not take call-outs without the framework.
- Day on site. Before start we check readiness. The operator may stop work if utility data is missing or the task is unsafe.
- Responsibility. You are responsible for permits, the design and marking utilities. We are responsible for operating the rig under the partnership agreement.
